Appearance
Manager
The Manager is the central tool for administering the multidimensional database structure and content. This section describes the management of dimensions and tables, the use of input forms, and the execution of data import wizards.
Preview
It is not necessary to create a report to display data. There is a preview in the Manger to display table contents. Filters, groupings, totals and sorting can also be used in this view. Graphical processing is also possible. This makes it possible to answer business questions very quickly. In addition to the pure data record view, trees/hierarchies can be used for evaluations. These can be nested within each other so that, for example, the customer structure can be displayed below the sales structure.
Inputs
In addition to the simple preview of data, it is often necessary to enter new values or change existing values. There are easy-to-use input forms for this purpose, with which the user selects dimension elements using drag & drop and then makes their entries.
Imports
In addition to administering the database, it is important to load data quickly and easily. There are wizards for importing dimensions, trees, distributions and tables. The user only needs to select a file that contains the corresponding data records. The separator and the assignment to the database fields are then specified. The wizards can also generate API commands to start automatic/time-controlled imports.
Change and copy data
It is often necessary to change not only individual values, but entire data ranges: Data ranges can be filtered, to which a fixed value, a factor, a percentage, a target value or an equal distribution is then applied. This is important for planning, for example, in order to adjust the percentage of sales for entire customer groups. When copying data within the same table or to another table, areas can also be filtered in which elements can be changed. This occurs, for example, when actual values are copied to the following year as a template for planning.
Console
The console can be used to send API commands to the database.
