Applications

Taurec is built around a powerful in-memory multidimensional database server and a family of companion applications for modeling data, analyzing results, creating reports, and planning the business. Together, these applications provide an end-to-end environment from data import to self-service analytics and planning across desktop, web, and mobile.

Common principles

All Taurec applications follow the same interaction model to keep onboarding fast and everyday work efficient:

  • Quick familiarization through drag and drop, assistants, and wizards.
  • Interactive self-service reports on desktop, mobile devices, or in the browser.
  • Easy creation of your own reports using a modular layout and grid-based interface.
  • Rich set of interface objects, such as trees, charts, filter controls, and table views.
  • Visual formula editor for custom calculations, without traditional programming.
  • Optional extensibility using a scripting language based on Basic or Pascal.

serverServer

The Taurec Server is an in-memory database engine that stores and processes multidimensional, hierarchical business data. It runs on Windows® and Linux and does not require additional frameworks.

For a detailed description of the server architecture, configuration, and deployment, see the Server documentation.

managerManager

The Manager is a Windows® application for administering the database. It provides a structured view of dimensions, tables, and other objects, and supports adding, editing, and importing data. Preview and quick evaluation functions make many day-to-day maintenance tasks more convenient.

Further information, including typical workflows and configuration options, can be found in the Manager documentation.

consoleConsole

The Console is a lightweight command-line application for sending API commands in text form. It runs on Windows® and Linux and can also be executed in batch mode, for example for nightly calculations, recurring imports, or scripted maintenance tasks.

Examples of scripts, command syntax, and automation scenarios are described in the Console documentation.

addinAdd-in for Excel®

The Taurec Add-in for Excel® integrates Taurec directly into Microsoft Excel®. Users can query data from the database using filters, consolidations, and drill-down options, while continuing to work in a familiar spreadsheet environment.

Details on installation, authentication, and typical report patterns are covered in the Add-in for Excel® documentation.

connectorConnector to Power BI®

The Taurec data connector to Power BI® allows data to be loaded from Taurec into Microsoft Power BI®. This enables the use of Power BI’s visualization capabilities while retaining Taurec as the central source of truth for multidimensional business data.

Configuration steps, connection options, and example report setups are described in the Connector to Power BI® documentation.

studioStudio

The Studio is the primary Windows® client for building and interacting with reports and dashboards. It offers the widest range of features, including advanced analysis options, high-performance data navigation, and flexible layout design for complex report structures.

An in-depth overview of report design, navigation concepts, and best practices is available in the Studio documentation.

appMobile App

The Taurec App provides access to reports and analyses on Windows®, macOS®, iOS®, and Android®. On iOS® and Android®, it focuses on viewing and interacting with existing reports, giving decision-makers fast access to key figures on the go.

Platform-specific notes, setup instructions, and usage examples can be found in the Mobile App documentation.
